The International Governance Council (IGC) has appointed Wildiley Barroca as Country Chair for Corporate Governance, International Trade & Investment for São Tomé & Príncipe, recognising his growing contribution to governance, international cooperation, and sustainable economic development.
A legal professional, diplomat, entrepreneur, and international business executive, Barroca has built a career that bridges public leadership with private-sector innovation. From leading national youth institutions in São Tomé & Príncipe to advising businesses and facilitating international trade and investment, his work has consistently focused on strengthening institutions, promoting ethical leadership, and creating opportunities for cross-border collaboration.
As Chief Executive Officer of WildGroup International, he has been actively involved in developing strategic partnerships between Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, supporting initiatives in international trade, investment facilitation, logistics, and corporate advisory services.
His appointment to the IGC reflects a shared commitment to advancing corporate governance, responsible investment, and sustainable economic growth. In his new role, Barroca will work to promote transparent governance practices, strengthen international partnerships, and encourage investment that contributes to inclusive and long-term development.
For Barroca, effective governance is not only about strong institutions—it is about creating trust, unlocking opportunities, and ensuring that economic growth benefits communities as much as markets.
“This appointment is both an honour and a responsibility. I look forward to working with governments, businesses, and international partners to promote responsible governance, facilitate sustainable investment, and contribute to the economic development of São Tomé & Príncipe and Africa as a whole,” said Wildiley Barroca.
As Africa continues to strengthen its position in the global economy, leaders capable of connecting governance, investment, and international cooperation will play an increasingly important role. Through this appointment, Wildiley Barroca joins the International Governance Council with a clear mission: to help build stronger institutions, foster global partnerships, and promote sustainable development through responsible leadership.
✨ Welcome, Wildiley — your leadership will inspire a new era of collaboration and impact.
